Today is the 10 year anniversary of Aaliyah after the artist passed in a horrific plane accident. The 22-year-old rising star was one of nine people aboard a twin-engine that crashed seconds after taking off from the Bahamas, according to Grand Bahama Police. All nine died. Her music is still current with what is out today. She had a style like no other. Her debut album Age Ain't Nothing but a Number, was produced and co-written by The King of The Closet, R. Kelly, and it reached #18 on the Billboard 200 selling over 3 million copies. 1996 was the year she met Missy and Timbaland, which spawned the album One in a Million. The album initially released the single If Your Girl Only Knew, which topped the Billboard Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs for two weeks. It also generated the singles Hot like Fire and 4 Page Letter. She was an amazing singer, but not only that, a talented actress as well. In 2000, she starred in her first major movie role Romeo Must Die (A loose adaptation of Shakespeare's Romeo and Juliet). My Favorite album has to be her self-titled album AALIYAH, with classics such as, We Need a Resolution, Loose Rap Ft. the late Static, Rock the Boat and More Than a Woman. She really was more than a woman no pun intended. A true artist that will be missed and never forgotten.
